Join our conversation with Devi Momot

Posted by on Sep 5, 2016

Happy Labor Day CHTA friends & members,

Summer is almost over, school will be starting in a few days, Town and County budget season is upon us, elections season is in full swing and soon the leaves will be turning.

And that means it’s time for CHTA meetings to begin after, what we hope was, a wonderful summer.

This month we have invited Devi Momot to meet with us.  Devi is the Republican endorsed candidate for Clinton County legislator in district #4, which is our district.  Colin Read resigned his position as our representative, preferring to run for Mayor.  So district #4 has an open seat (Sara Rowden is filling in for Read until the year is over).

The September meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 21st, at 7:00 PM at the Cumberland Head Fire Station.  This is not our usual meeting time but we changed the day in order to accommodate Ms. Momot’s schedule.

This will be an informal meeting, a time to meet Ms. Momot, to hear her ideas about serving on the County legislature and to ask her whatever questions you like.  It’s not a debate but a chance to talk with her about your concerns and hear hers.  So please join us and bring a neighbor or friend.  As always, everyone is welcome.  You need not be a member or live on CH to come and join the conversation.

In October we would like to invite the winner of the Democrat Primary for Clinton County legislature to join us for the same type of meeting.  That Primary race will be on September 13th.

Please take the time to come, to personally meet your candidates and chat with them.  It might be one of your only opportunities to do so.

See you on the 21st.

Town Puts Taxpayer Money in Cashman Campaign

Posted by on Nov 2, 2015

Hi Folks,

I don’t know how many of you get the Plattsburgh Press Republican…but on today’s edition…November 2, 2015, there was one of those stickers on the front.  You know, the kind everyone pulls off and tosses in the garbage.  But this sticker was most interesting.

Here it is:

Note that the sticker says that it was paid for by the Town of Plattsburgh…that’s yours and my tax dollars.  Yes, that’s’ right.  This sticker indicates that our local Town Board is using our taxpayer money to endorse a candidate…one of them.   A quick call to the Board of Elections will tell you that this is TOTALLY ILLEGAL!   So why aren’t we surprised?

Candidate with great tax and spend attitude.

Posted by on Oct 30, 2015

It’s time to put aside party politics and listen to a candidate for Town Supervisor who knows what the job’s about and understands finance.  After all, the Supervisor’s job is Chief Financial Officer of the town.  That means he’s to watch over of our tax dollars and run the town at a price we can ALL afford.  In case you don’t know him, this is your  chance to hear what Vasso La Forest has to say for himself.  And no, our local news outlets haven’t told you anything.  We have to go to WNBZ in Saranac Lake for the scoop.

This link will take you there:

Click on it and have a listen. Vasso’s thoughts on taxes seem to qualify him as a CHTA kind of candidate.

Hope you agree.
