CHTA to host BCS School Board candidates APRIL 18, 2013

On Thursday, April 18, 2013 the CHTA will host a forum for candidates running for the Beekmantown Central School Board.  Four of the five candidates have accepted our invitation, Mr. Michael Hagadorn, Mr. Andrew Brockway, Mr. Kenneth Maurer Sr., and incumbent Mr. Ed Marin.  Incumbent Mr. Richard Lavigne did not respond to our invitation.

In his April 9th  2013-14 budget presentation to the School Board, Superintendent Amo indicated that, according to his budget, School Taxes will once again increase.  This will affect all property owners in the district.  He stated that the fund balance will be $1.5 Million down from $12 Million a couple of years ago. This begs the question; on what did the School Board spend $10.5 Million in just a couple of years?  He also stated that assessments are going to rise which will also cause increases in your taxes.

If you are in the least interested in meeting the candidates and asking them your questions please try to attend the meeting where you can ask questions and get answers.  It’s a great way for anyone to improve the chances that his or her vote will be an informed decision at the polls on May 21st.

Meet the Candidates begins at 7:00PM at the Cumberland Head Fire Station. Everyone is welcome.

Association business precedes the meeting at 6:30 PM.
