TOP Tentative Budget 2013

I have reviewed the high-level budget and am awaiting the detail budget. Right now it looks like they are at a 4+% increase in the budget. Households have had to tighten their belt over the past 5 years choosing less expensive alternatives to make ends meet and now it is time for town officials to do the same thing for Plattsburgh. It is time to take a hard look at wants vs. needs. It is time to get employees’ input about where savings and efficiencies can be found. It is time to work with other local municipalities and look at shared services. It is time to open the dialogue with the community and solicit their input.   It is time to be good custodians of the taxpayers’ money.  The time to tighten our belts is now. We cannot wait as the tax foreclosure rate continues to climb; We are at our breaking point.  Please join our meetings at the CHD Fire Dept and attend the TOP meetings at 6:30 on Mondays and upcoming budget sessions.   The Plattsburgh town officials will be holding budget sessions on Oct 16, 17 and 18th from 8:00 – 5:00 to review the various budget components with the various depts. (water and sewer, highway, lighting etc).
